Helpful Hands and Hearts, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. While our History dates the work of our group back to 2012, it wasn’t until September 16, 2020 that we actually filed the paperwork officially changing our name from Lake Gaston Retirement Village Foundation, Inc. to Helpful Hands and Hearts, Inc. Our tax id number of 26-0804984 remains unchanged so you can easily track our tax filings and financial stewardship should you wish.

While Helpful Hands and Hearts has an excellent reputation within our community for being good stewards, we are always trying to increase our financial transparency. You can find us on GuideStar at https://www.guidestar.org/profile/26-0804984 or on Charity Navigator at https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/260804984. Each year since 2012, we have filed a Form 990 with the IRS. Only the latest YE 2020 Form 990 reflects our current name, Helpful Hands and Hearts, Inc.

Developing sources for grant funding took a while. It wasn’t until Helpful Hands and Hearts began to gain a strong reputation for building low cost, but high-quality ramps that funding opportunities began to slowly emerge.

What we do costs money. Each ramp currently costs an average of $1,250 in materials. We employ one part-time Office Manager to help us stay organized. That’s it! No other paid staff. In fact, our Office Manager volunteers additional time outside of “office hours”, including serving on the Board. Because Helpful Hands and Hearts is overwhelmingly an all-volunteer organization, we are very effective and efficient in assuring money is well spent.
